Sept 22: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 41 new cases of confirmed infections (25 imported cases, 14 in Yunnan province, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Fujian province, 2 in Guangdong province and 1 in Sichuan province, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Fujian and 1 in Sichuan; 16 indigenous cases, 13 in Fujian - 11 in Xiamen and 2 in Putian - and 3 in Harbin, Heilongjiang province), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 37 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 797 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Sept 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 8,868 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 8,336 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 532 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Sept 21, the National Health Commission had received reports of 95,851 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 90,231 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 984 confirmed cases (including 14 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 1,182,333 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 16,770 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 9 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 14 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 21, 342 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 333 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 21, 28,381 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,166 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 11,878 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,152 in Taiwan (840 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
