Sept 19: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 66 new cases of confirmed infections (23 imported cases, 9 in Yunnan province, 3 in Hubei province, 3 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Guangdong province and 1 in Tianjin municipality, including 8 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 3 in Guangxi, 3 in Sichuan, 1 in Tianjin and 1 in Guangdong; 43 indigenous cases in Fujian province, 39 in Xiamen and 4 in Putian), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 52 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,069 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Sept 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 8,792 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 8,248 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 544 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Sept 18, the National Health Commission had received reports of 95,689 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 90,126 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 927 confirmed cases (including 9 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,179,684 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 15,791 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 15 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 13 imported cases) and 8 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 18, 365 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 356 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 18, 28,349 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,157 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 11,869 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,129 in Taiwan (839 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
