Sept 16: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 80 new cases of confirmed infections (31 imported cases, 22 in Yunnan province, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Shandong province, including 4 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Sichuan, 1 in Zhejiang and 1 in Guangdong; 49 indigenous cases, 48 in Fujian province - 38 in Putian, 8 in Xiamen and 2 in Quanzhou, including 9 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases - and 1 in Yunnan’s Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 40 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 917 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Sept 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 8,732 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 8,138 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 594 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Sept 15, the National Health Commission had received reports of 95,493 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 89,980 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 877 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 1,177,197 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 15,798 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 13 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 13 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 11 imported cases) and 13 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 4 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Sept 15, 373 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 358 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 15, 28,315 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,149 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 11,858 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,103 in Taiwan (839 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
