Sept 6: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 18 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 7 in Guangdong province, 4 in Yunnan province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, including 5 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Sichuan, 1 in Fujian, 1 in Henan and 1 in Guangdong), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 54 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 554 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Sept 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 8,468 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 7,853 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 615 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Sept 5, the National Health Commission had received reports of 95,028 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 89,552 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 840 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 1,166,595 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 15,237 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 5, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 18 new asymptomatic cases (17 imported cases; 1 indigenous case in Guangzhou, Guangdong). 18 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 16 imported cases) and 5 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Sept 5, 416 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 376 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 5, 28,203 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,121 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,814 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (61 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,019 in Taiwan (837 had died and 13,751 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
