Sept 2: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Sept 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 28 new cases of confirmed infections (27 imported cases, 9 in Guangdong province including 1 confirmed case converting from an asymptomatic case, 8 in Yunnan province, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Hubei province; 1 indigenous case in Dehong Dai and Jingpo autonomous prefecture in Yunnan), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 73 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,343 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Sept 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 8,367 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 7,752 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 615 confirmed cases (including 2 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Sept 1, the National Health Commission had received reports of 94,926 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 89,313 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 977 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,164,509 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 18,582 were still under medical observation.

On Sept 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 19 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 18 imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Sept 1, 435 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 380 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Sept 1, 28,177 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,113 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,798 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (60 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 16,001 in Taiwan (836 had died and 13,692 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
