A kick-off ceremony was organized on Wednesday to invite contestants for the Xuyuan Award organized by the Auto Business Review magazine.
The organizers said any gasoline model produced in China by Chinese carmakers and joint ventures and launched in the Chinese market between December 2020 and November 2021 will be eligible for the event.
For electric, plug-in hybrid and fuel cell models, any carmaker is welcome as long as the model is or will be launched from December 2020 to November 2021, the organizers said.
The contestants will be evaluated in terms of four major aspects. One is their design and quality, which covers such things as their exterior, interior, space as well as noise vibration harshness.
The others are their ADAS features, human-machine interaction as well as car use in different scenarios.
The organizers said a preliminary selection will be held in mid-October this year, and 40 models are expected to enter the next round.
A total of 20 models will be examined by a jury of global experts on Dec 10 and 11 at the Xiangyang test facility in Hubei province.
They will decide on the final award-winners and the final results will be unveiled on Dec 12, said the organizers.
