Aug 31: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 37 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 22 in Yunnan province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Guangdong province, 2 in Fujian province, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Shandong province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 114 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,552 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Aug 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 8,321 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 7,688 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 633 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Aug 30, the National Health Commission had received reports of 94,879 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 89,145 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,098 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,162,974 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 21,906 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 30, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 14 new asymptomatic cases (13 imported cases, 1 indigenous case in Yunnan). 10 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 7 imported cases) and 4 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Aug 30, 443 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 383 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 30, 28,164 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,110 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,786 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (60 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,991 in Taiwan (834 had died and 13,673 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
