Aug 27: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 26, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 32 new cases of confirmed infections (30 imported cases, 8 in Guangdong province, 8 in Yunnan province, 7 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Henan province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Hubei province and 1 in Sichuan province; 2 indigenous cases, 1 in Shanghai and 1 in Jiangsu province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 98 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,164 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 2.

As of 24:00 on Aug 26, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 8,208 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 7,529 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 679 confirmed cases (including 10 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 26, the National Health Commission had received reports of 94,765 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 88,698 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,431 confirmed cases (including 12 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,160,352 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 27,310 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 26, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 22 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 23 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 20 imported cases) and 3 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Aug 26, 463 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 388 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 26, 28,087 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,077 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,777 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (59 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,947 in Taiwan (832 had died and 13,644 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
