Wuxi upgrades low-carbon lifestyle app

The upgraded version of the "Carbon Fashion" app, which was developed in Wuxi to encourage more public participation in low-carbon travel, was released on Aug 25, which marked the 9th National Low-carbon Day.

As a provincial low-carbon pilot city, Wuxi has been leading the way in energy-saving and carbon-reduction advocacy.

Launched in 2020, the "Carbon Fashion" allows people to earn credits from their environmentally actions such as walking or cycling. These credits can be exchanged for rewards.

The app currently has 50,000 registered users who have earned 19.5 million carbon credits, which is equivalent to a reduction of 196 tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

The upgraded version of the app will collect more data from scenarios such as taking public transportation instead of driving, as well as provide users with the lowest carbon and environmental- friendly travel routes, according to employees from the local ecological environment bureau.

In addition, low-carbon interactive games, wish walls, public welfare projects, VR experience and related knowledge will be presented by the app to raise people's interest and awareness in a low-carbon lifestyle.
