Aug 26: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 25, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 26 new cases of confirmed infections (23 imported cases, 9 in Guangdong province, 7 in Yunnan province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Fujian province; 3 indigenous cases in Yunnan), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 104 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 3,119 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Aug 25, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 8,178 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 7,483 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 695 confirmed cases (including 10 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 25, the National Health Commission had received reports of 94,733 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 88,600 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,497 confirmed cases (including 14 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,159,654 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 28,776 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 25, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 24 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 21 imported cases) and 4 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Aug 25, 467 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 389 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 25, 28,076 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,074 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,772 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (59 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,939 in Taiwan (830 had died and 13,626 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
