Aug 25: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 20 new cases of confirmed infections (16 imported cases, 6 in Yunnan province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Henan province; 4 indigenous cases, 2 in Shanghai, 1 in Jiangsu and 1 in Yunnan), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 79 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 3,690 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 5.
As of 24:00 on Aug 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 8,155 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 7,447 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 708 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on Aug 24, the National Health Commission had received reports of 94,707 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 88,496 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,575 confirmed cases (including 14 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,159,477 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 31,718 were still under medical observation.
On Aug 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 11 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 23 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 18 imported cases) and 3 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Aug 24, 476 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 395 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Aug 24, 28,070 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,069 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,768 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (59 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,938 in Taiwan (829 had died and 13,621 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
