The Nantong Economic & Technological Development Area or NETDA – located in East China's Jiangsu province – has reportedly taken the lead in the high-end equipment manufacturing sector.
It is actively promoting industry cooperation in the field in the Yangtze River Delta or YRD region.
The NETDA is focusing on developing the sector, expanding is industrial scale and is understood to be striving to build an important high-end equipment base with independent and key technologies in the YRD region, according to local media reports on Aug 23.
The current players in the field in the zone operate in intelligent manufacturing, marine engineering, satellites and assemblies and industrial robots, among other things.
In addition, the development zone has incubated a group of 32 national high-tech enterprises, accounting for 16 percent of the total number of large-scale enterprises in the NETDA. Moreover, some 69 R&D platforms at or above the city-level have been built in the last few years, accounting for about 35 percent of all R&D platforms at or above the city-level there.
Statistics showed that last year the industrial structure of the NETDA was adjusted three times and the proportion of the services industry has grown successively.
The zone's industrial structure has reportedly continued to improve last year – with the share of new chemical materials falling by about 20 percent, the share of the new-generation information technology and intelligent manufacturing equipment industries topping 30 percent and the share of high-tech industries increasing to 40.5 percent.
