The First China's New Smart City Construction Summit will be held in November in Qingdao, Shandong province, the organizing committee announced at a news conference held on Aug 1 in Beijing.
The summit will be jointly hosted by the State Information Center, the Shandong Provincial Big Data Bureau and the Qingdao Municipal People's Government.
The summit is designed as a platform for displaying the latest achievements of China's new smart city construction, a platform for exchanging theoretical experience and practice of digital government, digital society, digital economy and new infrastructure, and a cooperation platform that gathers global forces to boost the construction of China's new smart city, said the organizing committee.
The event will consist of a main forum and four sub-forums. Top academicians and industry giants will be invited to share the latest concepts and advanced achievements in the construction of a new smart city, as well as explore a new model of new smart city construction that is people-oriented, demand-led and data-driven.
The New Smart City Innovation and Application Competition, an important part of the summit, will be launched on Aug 2 to select a batch of new smart city solutions that would be implemented nationwide.
Qingdao has in recent years been promoting new smart city construction and released a series of policies and measures to promote the all-round digital transformation of the city, covering urban governance, people's livelihoods, industrial upgrading, intelligent communities and other fields.
