Aug 19: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 46 new cases of confirmed infections (41 imported cases, 11 in Tianjin municipality, 10 in Guangdong province, 6 in Yunnan province, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Fujian province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Sichuan province; 5 indigenous cases, 3 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Shanghai and 1 in Yunnan), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 67 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,546 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Aug 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 8,011 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 7,252 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 759 confirmed cases (including 11 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 18, the National Health Commission had received reports of 94,546 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 88,044 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,866 confirmed cases (including 61 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,154,405 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 41,706 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 18, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 30 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 15 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 6 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Aug 18, 508 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 408 imported cases, reduced by 1 after verification).

As of 24:00 on Aug 18, 27,996 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,042 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,755 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (59 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,891 in Taiwan (821 had died and 13,214 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
