A China-Europe freight train connecting the city of Ordos in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region to Moscow in Russia will start operating on Aug 6.

The train is meant to make it easier to transport agricultural and sideline products and automobiles produced in Ordos to Russia.

It has been reported that the agricultural and sideline products of Ordos were previously mainly exported by sea through Tianjin Port in North China, which took 35 to 40 days. After the opening of the China-Europe freight train, shipping time will be reduced by 20 to 25 days.

The first train, departing on Aug 6, will be loaded with a total of 50 containers carrying agricultural and sideline products from Ordos and neighboring cities.

It will depart from the Zhasake Logistics Park, pass through Baotou, Hohhot, Ulaanqab, and Xiliin Gol League, and finally leave the country via Ereenhot Port, the largest land port on the China-Mongolia border.

The whole journey is about 7,600 kilometers in length, and is expected to take about 15 days.
