On Aug 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 28 new cases of confirmed infections (22 imported cases, 8 in Yunnan province, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Fujian province, 1 in Hubei province and 1 in Guangdong province; 6 indigenous cases in Jiangsu province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 69 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,658 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 5.
As of 24:00 on Aug 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 7,970 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 7,217 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 753 confirmed cases (including 11 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on Aug 17, the National Health Commission had received reports of 94,500 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 87,977 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,887 confirmed cases (including 62 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,153,308 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 43,156 were still under medical observation.
On Aug 17, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 17 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 12 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 10 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Aug 17, 500 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 400 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on Aug 17, 27,982 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,039 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,753 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (59 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,880 in Taiwan (821 had died and 13,195 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
