In recent years, the city of Hechi has implemented a number of major modern transportation infrastructure projects, and the transportation network has been continuously improved, providing strong support for the city's economic, social development and poverty alleviation.
In the first half of the year, the city received a total investment of 15.76 billion yuan ($2.43 billion) for transportation infrastructure construction, increasing 106.36 percent year on year. The transportation investment accounted for more than 70 percent of the city's fixed investment, which is important for the city's economic growth.
Meanwhile, the city has promoted the interconnection of a transportation infrastructure. At present, the city has organized more than 400 key transportation projects such as railways, expressways, ordinary roads, water transportation, and civil aviation with a total investment of about 228 billion yuan, ensuring the city's transportation development.
The city has noted some major accomplishments during the construction of key transportation projects. For example, the Deqing Tunnel of Guiyang-Nanning High-speed Railway has a total length of 6,610 meters, and was successfully completed on Aug 3, highlighting the completion of the riskiest tunnel project on the railway.
At the end of July, the subgrades, bridges and tunnels on the Tian'e-Beihai Expressway have been constructed steadily. Huang Shiheng, a villager from Fengshan county said that now it takes five and a half hours from Fengshan to Nanning, capital of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. It will save two hours to Nanning after the expressway opens to traffic, which will greatly improve travel and promote rural economic development.
Hechi is going all out to accelerate transportation construction, and strives to fully develop second and third-level highways between townships and villages by 2022. The city will ensure that the Guizhou-Nanning High-speed Railway is completed and open to traffic by 2023, and the length of highways built during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) will exceed 1,000 kilometers.
