Aug 15: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 53 new cases of confirmed infections (29 imported cases, 13 in Guangdong province, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Shandong province, 3 in Yunnan province and 1 in Fujian province; 24 indigenous cases, 18 in Jiangsu province, 5 in Henan province and 1 in Hunan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 38 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 3,959 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. As of 24:00 on Aug 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 7,874 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 7,136 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 738 confirmed cases (including 10 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Aug 14, the National Health Commission had received reports of 94,379 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 87,821 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,922 confirmed cases (including 64 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,146,611 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 44,300 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 14, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 29 new asymptomatic cases (22 imported cases; 7 indigenous cases in Henan). 8 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 7 imported cases) and 4 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Aug 14, 504 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 394 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 14, 27,938 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,032 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,740 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (57 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,843 in Taiwan (821 had died and 13,184 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
