Aug 12: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 11, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 81 new cases of confirmed infections (20 imported cases, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Guangdong province, 5 in Yunnan province, 3 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Sichuan province; 61 indigenous cases, 38 in Jiangsu province, 10 in Hubei province, 7 in Hunan province, 3 in Henan province and 3 in Yunnan), 2 new cases of suspected infections (both were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 34 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 4,428 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Aug 11, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 7,757 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 7,039 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 718 confirmed cases (including 13 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 11, the National Health Commission had received reports of 94,161 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 87,689 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,836 confirmed cases (including 60 cases in serious condition) and 3 suspected cases. 1,138,795 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 49,264 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 11, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 38 new asymptomatic cases (27 imported cases; 11 indigenous cases, 10 in Hubei and 1 in Zhejiang province). 24 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 23 imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Aug 11, 511 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 395 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 11, 27,897 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,020 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,731 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (57 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,814 in Taiwan (816 had died and 13,111 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
