Shanghai Ocean University recently held the closing ceremony for its 2021 Global Summer School, which was held online for four weeks this summer.
A total of 89 students from 13 countries such as Russia, South Korea and Vietnam participated in the summer program.
The program included courses related to the aquatic and marine disciplines, Chinese language, Chinese culture, as well as an online tour of Shanghai.
Teachers made arrangements two months in advance to take videos at scientific laboratories, marine parks and historic and cultural sites in Shanghai to enrich the practice and experience.
A student from Malaysia said the program helped broaden her horizons and raise awareness about environmental protection and cultural inheritance. She said she was very satisfied with the diversified courses and was looking forward to visiting China.
The annual summer program of Shanghai Ocean University is designed to introduce foreigners to the origins and development of Chinese marine culture, the local culture of Shanghai, as well as basic knowledge of Chinese language and Chinese culture. It aims to build a platform for educational and cultural exchanges with different languages and cultures in the world and attract more outstanding foreign students to experience Chinese culture, learn Chinese and study at Shanghai Ocean University.
