Aug 10: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 143 new cases of confirmed infections (35 imported cases, 11 in Yunnan province, 9 in Shanghai municipality, 8 in Guangdong province, 3 in Fujian province, 3 in Sichuan province and 1 in Shaanxi province; 108 indigenous cases, 50 in Jiangsu province, 37 in Henan province, 15 in Hubei province and 6 in Hunan province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Fujian), and no deaths. 44 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 2,488 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 5.

As of 24:00 on Aug 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 7,709 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 6,989 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 720 confirmed cases (including 14 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Aug 9, the National Health Commission had received reports of 93,969 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 87,631 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,702 confirmed cases (including 54 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,131,521 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 49,980 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 9, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 38 new asymptomatic cases (18 imported cases; 20 indigenous cases, 18 in Hubei and 2 in Henan). 25 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 44 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 7 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 9, 501 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 387 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 9, 27,868 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,015 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,725 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (57 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,790 in Taiwan (813 had died and 13,096 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
