The Apollo 3D team from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications won third place at the 2021 Robocup Simulation 3D League Soccer Competition, which was held from June 22 to 28 in Bordeaux, France.
The Apollo 3D team was formed by five students from the College of Automation and the College of Artificial Intelligence. After 19 games in seven days, the team won third place, the best result among Chinese universities' teams.
Initiated in 1997, the RoboCup is the top competition among all robot competitions. It includes 10 categories, such as the robot 3D simulation soccer competition and robot rescue competition.
As an important activity to cultivate and develop high-tech talents, the competition has attracted many universities at home and abroad, including Carnegie Mellon University in the United States, Oxford University, Tokyo University, as well as Tsinghua University.
This year's edition attracted more than 2,000 students from 40 countries and regions like China, the United States, Germany, Brazil, Spain, as well as Italy.
