Jiangyin, Yixing among top counties for economic development

Two county-level cities of Wuxi, Jiangyin and Yixing, were included in a top 10 Chinese counties for economic development in 2020 list, which was released by CCID Consulting, a scientific research institute directly associated with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, on Aug 4.

Jiangyin was ranked second position on the list, while Yixing was ranked eighth.

CCID Consulting adopted a new evaluation system this year, which is centered on innovative, coordinated, green, open, and shared development. It comprises of 24 indexes in four categories: economic strength, growth potential, prosperity, and ecofriendly development.

The regional gross domestic product of Jiangyin hit 411.38 billion yuan ($63.6 billion) in 2020. The output value of the city's industries above designated size was 585.37 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 1.3 percent, with the cotton spinning, chemicals, and clothing industries leading the way.

Yixing's GDP reached 183.22 billion yuan in 2020, a year-on-year increase of 3 percent. The output value of the city's industrial enterprises above designated size increased by 3.1 percent year-on-year in 2020 to 347.94 billion yuan.
