Aug 7: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 6, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 107 new cases of confirmed infections (32 imported cases, 11 in Yunnan province, 9 in Shanghai municipality, 5 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Jiangsu province and 1 in Zhejiang province; 75 indigenous cases, 53 in Jiangsu, 9 in Hubei province, 9 in Hunan province and 4 in Henan province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shandong province), and no deaths. 33 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,056 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 5.

As of 24:00 on Aug 6, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 7,628 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 6,903 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 725 confirmed cases (including 13 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 6, the National Health Commission had received reports of 93,605 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 87,525 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,444 confirmed cases (including 39 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,119,620 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 44,273 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 6, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 32 new asymptomatic cases (12 imported cases; 20 indigenous cases, 15 in Hubei, 4 in Henan and 1 in Hunan). 12 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 6 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 3 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 6, 571 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 388 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 6, 27,832 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,004 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,724 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 63 in Macao (57 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,765 in Taiwan (794 had died and 13,018 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
