Aug 3: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 90 new cases of confirmed infections (29 imported cases, 8 in Yunnan province, 6 in Guangdong province, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Sichuan province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Shandong province; 61 indigenous cases, 45 in Jiangsu, 6 in Hunan province, 3 in Hubei province, 2 in Henan province, 2 in Yunnan, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Shanghai and 1 in Fujian), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 24 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 632 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Aug 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 7,504 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 6,806 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 698 confirmed cases (including 13 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Aug 2, the National Health Commission had received reports of 93,193 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 87,400 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,157 confirmed cases (including 24 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 1,102,493 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 31,783 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 2, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 41 new asymptomatic cases (18 imported cases; 23 indigenous cases, 15 in Henan, 6 in Hubei and 2 in Hunan). 14 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 13 imported cases) and 4 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 1 imported case). As of 24:00 on Aug 2, 499 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 383 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 2, 27,751 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,990 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,715 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 59 in Macao (54 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,702 in Taiwan (789 had died and 12,884 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
