Aug 2: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Aug 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 98 new cases of confirmed infections (43 imported cases, 16 in Yunnan province, 4 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Fujian province, 3 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 3 in Jiangsu province, 3 in Shaanxi province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Henan province, 2 in Guangdong province and 2 in Sichuan province; 55 indigenous cases, 40 in Jiangsu, 7 in Hunan province, 2 in Beijing, 2 in Hubei province, 1 in Shandong, 1 in Henan, 1 in Hainan province and 1 in Yunnan), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 29 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 662 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Aug 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 7,475 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 6,789 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 686 confirmed cases (including 16 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Aug 1, the National Health Commission had received reports of 93,103 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 87,376 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,091 confirmed cases (including 24 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,098,701 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 28,648 were still under medical observation.

On Aug 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 60 new asymptomatic cases (16 imported cases; 44 indigenous cases, 28 in Henan, 11 in Hunan, 2 in Jiangsu, 2 in Hubei and 1 in Beijing). 20 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 19 imported cases) and 7 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 4 imported cases). As of 24:00 on Aug 1, 476 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 379 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Aug 1, 27,734 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,987 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,715 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 59 in Macao (54 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,688 in Taiwan (789 had died and 12,879 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
