Aug 1: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 75 new cases of confirmed infections (22 imported cases, 7 in Yunnan province, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Tianjin municipality, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Sichuan province; 53 indigenous cases, 30 in Jiangsu province, 12 in Henan, 4 in Hunan province, 3 in Yunnan, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Hubei province and 1 in Ningxia Hui autonomous region), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 24 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 715 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on July 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 7,432 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 6,762 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 670 confirmed cases (including 17 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on July 31, the National Health Commission had received reports of 93,005 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 87,347 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,022 confirmed cases (including 25 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,093,589 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 24,257 were still under medical observation.

On July 31, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 37 new asymptomatic cases (12 imported cases; 25 indigenous cases, 20 in Henan, 4 in Hunan and 1 in Fujian). 13 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 4 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 3 imported cases). As of 24:00 on July 31, 443 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 386 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 31, 27,717 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,984 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,713 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 59 in Macao (54 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,674 in Taiwan (787 had died and 12,856 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
