July 29: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 49 new cases of confirmed infections (25 imported cases, 16 in Yunnan province, 3 in Fujian province, 3 in Guangdong province, 1 in Jilin province, 1 in Henan province and 1 in Sichuan province; 24 indigenous cases, 20 in Jiangsu province, 3 in Sichuan and 1 in Beijing municipality), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai municipality), and no deaths. 24 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 382 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on July 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 7,342 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 6,709 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 633 confirmed cases (including 16 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on July 28, the National Health Commission had received reports of 92,811 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 87,288 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 887 confirmed cases (including 23 cases in serious condition) and 5 suspected cases. 1,081,486 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 14,009 were still under medical observation.

On July 28, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 14 new asymptomatic cases (12 imported cases; 2 indigenous cases, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Sichuan). 27 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 26 imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on July 28, 411 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 395 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 28, 27,658 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,980 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,707 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 59 in Macao (53 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,619 in Taiwan (787 had died and 12,686 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
