Event at MIXC shopping mall features a timeline of Party history with over 100 photos
Heping district in Shenyang, Liaoning province, is holding an exhibition with the theme of "Always Follow the Party" at the north square of the MIXC shopping mall.
The event, which started on June 30 and will end on July 18, is designed to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China on July 1.
It integrates education of the CPC's history with the inheritance of Red genes, and is also a response to the request that methods of studying and educating the Party's history should focus more on innovation.
That's according to senior officials of China Resources Land, a subsidiary of the Fortune Global 500 company China Resources Group.
During the opening ceremony, Wang Yong, general manager of the company's Northeast China region, said learning about the Party's history is "a concrete action to thoroughly implement the Party's thought and an inevitable requirement for Party members to consciously remain true to the Party's original aspiration, keeping its mission firmly in mind".
The initiative is also important for the CPC to lead the people toward the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, promote revolution through self-reform and ensure everlasting vitality, he added. Since the Party's history is the most vivid and persuasive textbook, "we hope through the exhibition, Party members and the masses in the region can have a deep understanding of why the CPC is capable, why Marxism is viable and why socialism with Chinese characteristics is applicable", Wang said.
Tang Qi, a local resident in Shenyang, said many people visit the spot every day and the exhibition offers a good opportunity for citizens to learn about the Party's history, the strength of the country and the dramatic changes of the city.
The exhibition demonstrates the Party's centennial history in four parts with sculptures and pictures. A sculpture, for example, uses the Party emblem and red hearts as its main materials to display the theme of "remaining true to the Party's original aspiration and keeping its mission firmly in mind".
Another themed sculpture embodies the Red boat spirit, which highlights the pioneering work, striving spirit and dedication of the CPC.
In July 1921, about a dozen people started the first national congress in a brick-and-wood house in Shanghai. The delegates then moved to a boat on Nanhu Lake in Jiaxing, East China's Zhejiang province, to avoid being spied on.
There, they discussed and passed the first program and resolution of the Party.
The boat has since become an iconic symbol in the Party's history. Photo exhibits at the exhibition include pictures of the 19 sessions of the CPC National Congress to help viewers understand the context of the Party's leadership and ideological development.
The exhibit also has 100 pictures related to the Party's history over the past century.
In the timeline of the Party's 100-year history, the company said it could see the roles China Resources Land has played in different historical periods.
As a large State-owned company, China Resources Land has always been a practitioner of following the Party, it said.
During the exhibition, a series of activities have been scheduled for residents.
On July 4, an activity was organized to encourage residents to express their best wishes to the Party, themselves and their relatives.
They wrote down their wishes on heart-shaped stickers and pasted them on the outer wall of the exhibition area.
On July 11, the company plans to invite children from Shenyang's educational institutions to draw paintings at the north square. It will also invite senior Party members on July 18 to share the great changes that have taken places in China under the leadership of the CPC.
