The site of the Ancient Capital of Zheng and Han States (the Zheng-Han Ancient City) is located at the junction of the river Shuangji and the river Huangshui in Xinzheng city, Henan province. During the late Western Zhou period, 2,700 years ago, the Zheng State established its capital here. After the Han State overthrew the Zheng State, it also moved its capital to the site. During its 539 years as a capital city, the Zheng-Han Ancient City was a regional cultural and economic center.

The ancient city has a circumference of approximately 20 kilometers, and an area of 16 square kilometers. The highest point of the city walls is 16 meters, witha base width between 40-60 meters. At present, it is one of the most intact city ruins among ruins of the same period. Within the city, there are palaces, ancestral temples, sacrificial sites, and the tombs of Zheng aristocrats, which were found in the form of rammed earth buildings. In addition to these sites, copper, iron, jade, bone and other manual workshop ruins have also been found through unearthed artefacts, including copper slag, charcoal, a copper furnace, a blast pipe, copper knives, pottery vessels, and other tools.

The Ancient Capital of Zheng and Han States National Archaeological Site Park covers an area of more than 4,500 hectares. It consists of four separate site parks: The City Wall, the Palace Complex, the Handicraft Site, and the Noble Burial Area. Admission to the park is currently free to the public.
