July 23: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 48 new cases of confirmed infections (36 imported cases, 14 in Guangdong province, 13 in Yunnan province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Sichuan province, 2 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Tianjin municipality and 1 in Hubei province; 12 indigenous cases in Jiangsu province), 3 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 23 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 363 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on July 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 7,161 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 6,600 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 561 confirmed cases (including 15 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on July 22, the National Health Commission had received reports of 92,462 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 87,163 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 663 confirmed cases (including 17 cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 1,072,912 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,742 were still under medical observation.

On July 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 35 new asymptomatic cases (25 imported cases; 10 indigenous cases, 7 in Jiangsu, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Anhui province and 1 in Guangdong). 31 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 9 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on July 22, 451 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 426 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on July 22, 27,538 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,971 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,690 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 56 in Macao (53 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,511 in Taiwan (782 had died and 12,456 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
