July 21: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 22 new cases of confirmed infections (20 imported cases, 6 in Yunnan province, 6 in Shaanxi province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Fujian province, 1 in Guangdong province, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Gansu province; 2 indigenous cases in Yunnan), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 28 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 398 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.
As of 24:00 on July 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 7,087 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 6,568 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 519 confirmed cases (including 12 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on July 20, the National Health Commission had received reports of 92,364 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 87,126 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 602 confirmed cases (including 15 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 1,071,606 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,116 were still under medical observation.
On July 20, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 23 new asymptomatic cases (22 imported cases; 1 indigenous case in Jiangsu). 17 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on July 20, 453 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 445 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on July 20, 27,473 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,965 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,688 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 55 in Macao (53 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,453 in Taiwan (773 had died and 12,348 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
