July 16: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 36 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 15 in Yunnan province, 6 in Shanghai municipality, 4 in Tianjin municipality, 4 in Guangdong province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 2 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Henan province, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Shaanxi province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 6 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 349 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 4.
As of 24:00 on July 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 6,924 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 6,455 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 469 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases.
As of 24:00 on July 15, the National Health Commission had received reports of 92,183 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 87,011 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 536 confirmed cases (including 8 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 1,068,538 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,401 were still under medical observation.
On July 15, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 23 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 19 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 18 imported cases) and 4 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on July 15, 451 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 446 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on July 15, 27,356 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,955 in Hong Kong (212 had died and 11,675 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 55 in Macao (53 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 15,346 in Taiwan (759 had died and 12,083 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
