When asked about his impression of Shanghai, Song Uijin, described the city as having "fast fingers and fast reflexes", traits which are also required in the South Korean professional gamer.

Song, who also goes by the nickname Rookie, is a member of Chinese e-sports outfit Invictus Gaming. He made the remarks in a video which is part of the "Shanghai Through Our Eyes" series produced by Xinmin Evening News to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China this year.

The Information Office of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government launched the series on April 8.

In the video, Song also described the e-sports environment in Shanghai as "incomparable" and recalled that the city and its people stood out with their hospitality when he participated in a tournament here a few years ago.

Besides having good infrastructure such as high-speed internet, which is essential to professional gaming, and world class competition venues, the enthusiasm of Chinese fans has also left him impressed."

When we hear their cheers, we would perform better," said the 24-year-old.

Outside of professional gaming, Song's experience with the city has been a good one as well.

"It's quite complicated to get a card in a bank. What's more, I'm a foreigner," he recalled. "However, I received my bank card on the same day. This experience made me feel that Shanghai's efficiency is just like our finger reflexes – very fast." Yang Hong contributed to this story.
