Chinese electric vehicle startup Enovate launched the ME5 SUV on Tuesday in two variants at a suggested price of 149,900 yuan ($23,175) and 159,900 yuan.
Equipped with the iMES intelligent range extension system, the model has a class-leading range of 1,012 kilometers.
Designed by former Porsche designer Hakan Saracoglu, the car is 4,580millimeters long, with a wheelbase of 2,750mm and has 21-inch rims.
Equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820A Prem chip and a 14.8-inch touchscreen, the SUV provides a number of intelligent features, including enabling the driver and passengers to interact with the carin different ways such as using face recognition.
The car can also be used as an electric charger and power source outputting a 220V alternating current, which allows users to power outdoor BBQs, camping facilities and other activities.
It is the first model produced at Enovate's smart factory in Changsha. Besides the ME5, the carmaker launched the ME7 last year.
On Tuesday, Enovate and e-commerce retailer JD announced they will deepen cooperation on online and offline sales, services and marketing.
According to Tang Yong, a manager in JD’s auto department, the company will provide customized services to Enovate’s users through its online and offline platforms.
The two sides launched the Enovate ME5 Plus JD version in time for the June 18 or "618"online shopping festival, with orders exceeding 2,000 within two days.
