Hechi achieves high-quality development in H1

The city of Hechi has seen a good start in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25), and has achieved high quality development of its economy and society in the first half of 2021.

By May 2021, the fixed asset investment of Hechi had increased by 46.7 percent year on year, and the growth rate ranks first in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. The total retail sales of consumer goods increased by 22.5 percent year on year, ranking second in the whole region. The fiscal revenue reached 3.98 billion yuan ($615 million), up 20.2 percent year on year. The total import and export volume of foreign trade reached 2.81 billion yuan, up 119.5 percent year on year.

The city has focused on the construction of transportation infrastructure projects, such as the Guizhou-Nanning high-speed railway and seven expressways such as Hezhou-Bama Expressway. By the end of June, a total of 73 major projects have been started, with an investment of 27.03 billion yuan, which completes 58.8 percent of the annual plan.

Centered on leading industries and emerging industries, such as nonferrous metal materials, big health and biomedicine, the city's investment attraction work target has been achieved in advance. Up to now, domestic investment in the city has reached 18.39 billion yuan, and has completed 70.73 percent of its annual task. The city utilized $8.07 million of foreign funds, accounting for 53.8 percent of its annual target.

In order to consolidate and expand the achievements of poverty alleviation, the city attached great importance to its development plans and goals, and has established a stable and long-term mechanism for poverty alleviation.

The city has made efforts to develop education in rural areas, help farmers to find jobs and start businesses, and raise the subsistence allowance standard in rural areas.

Meanwhile, the city has improved the rural landscape, optimized rural infrastructure construction, promoted the renovation of dilapidated houses in rural areas, and implemented rural water supply security projects.

Since the beginning of this year, the city has made efforts to improve people's quality of life. An 8.11 million yuan job stabilization subsidy has been provided to benefit 7,377 employees. Twelve kindergartens, nine compulsory education schools and six senior high schools have been built and expanded to further narrow the gap between urban and rural education. A total of 1.34 billion yuan was collected from social insurance, medical insurance and housing insurance, and all social insurance benefits were fully insured. Furthermore, the completion rate of COVID-19 vaccinations in the city has remained steady at 99 percent.
