Building green and ecologically pristine areas to make the new city livable is one of the new area's priorities.
Work on Xiong'an Jiaoye Park commenced in March last year, and construction was completed in June. It opened to the public on July 1. Since then, the park has seen an increasing number of visits both by local residents and tourists from outside the new area who have been surprised by the park's beauty and scale, the government said.
The park has 14 forested areas, with various plants and a 4-kilometer landscaped avenue sided with ginkgo, a widely planted ornamental Chinese tree with yellow leaves. There is also a 3.5-km road decorated with cherry trees.
In the park are 14 city-themed pavilions exhibiting specialties from the province's 11 prefecture-level cities, two county-level cities and Xiong'an New Area. In addition, there is a main pavilion featured with green expos of Xiong'an. For example, the Cangzhou pavilion theme centers on Chinese martial arts, while the Zhangjiakou pavilion focuses on sports.
