A huge park in Hebei province's Xiong'an New Area — about 1.5 times the size of Olympic Forest Park in Beijing's Chaoyang district — is welcoming more people.
Covering 18 square kilometers, Xiong'an Jiaoye Park — Jiaoye meaning outskirts with green areas — is located in the northern part of the Rongdong region, one of the first places to be built up in Xiong'an and also a place used to accommodate some relocated residents.
The park will become a major site for natural scenery in Rongdong, both for residents' leisure and entertainment and as a key scenic part of a flood protection project circling an area larger than Rongdong which is now under construction, the local government said.
Established in April 2017, Xiong'an is a new economic hub near the capital. It will play a significant role in the country's national strategy involving the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
