Chinese musical, Stenographer, premiered in Beijing on July 2.
Following the story of a 23-year-old stenographer named Shen Anna, who was an undercover agent in the Kuomintang government in Chongqing in 1938 and stayed undercover for 14 years, the musical is composed by Zhang Ran, who is known for his compositions for Chinese musicals, such as director Meng Jinghui's The Murder & Hanging Garden.
Produced by Beijing-based company Joyway, famous for bringing in international musical productions and producing original Chinese musicals, the musical also brings together creative members including director Xie Yuti and stage set designer Dou Hui.
