July 2: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On July 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 18 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 8 in Guangdong province, 5 in Fujian province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Jiangsu province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 20 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 1,722 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.
As of 24:00 on July 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 6,618 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 6,230 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 388 confirmed cases (including 8 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on July 1, the National Health Commission had received reports of 91,810 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 86,738 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 436 confirmed cases (including 8 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,060,523 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 11,703 were still under medical observation.
On July 1, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 22 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 19 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 3 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on July 1, 474 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 467 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on July 1, 26,834 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,927 in Hong Kong (211 had died and 11,631 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 54 in Macao (51 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 14,853 in Taiwan (661 had died and 10,306 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
