Northeast China's Jilin province is set to further boost its rural tourism sector, with new measures designed in accordance with the Implementation Opinions on Promoting the High-quality Development of Rural Tourism.
Rural tourism is an important part of the province's wider tourism sector.
In 2019, the growth rates of visits and tourism income generated by the rural tourism sector in Jilin province reached 24.77 percent and 35.65 percent respectively, both about twice as high as the average growth rate of Jilin province's tourism industry.
Rural tourism in Jilin is the sector that has recovered the fastest and has achieved the most positive growth in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Implementation Opinions put forward development goals for the rural tourism sector. By 2025, the annual growth rates of visits and tourism income generated by the rural tourism sector in the province are expected to increase by more than 20 percent and 25 percent respectively.
From the four aspects of financial support, land use security, talent training, and environment optimization, 11 measures have been introduced, including financial guidance, the strengthening of credit support, support for the development of land for rural tourism projects, and tax and fee reductions.
Next, Jilin province will establish a working mechanism to promote the development of rural tourism, develop major rural tourism projects, highlight rural tourism boutique spots and routes, and improve the quality of rural tourism services and management.
