Songwriter Wang Xiaoling, who is known for his patriotic songs, such as We Are Soldiers and Ode to the Country, has released a new song, Youth of the Red Boat, marking the 100th birthday of the Communist Party of China.

The song was composed by Wang Yongmei and performed by singer Zu Hai.

"We are all Party members and as musicians, we want to express our love for the country on the occasion of the CPC centenary," said Wang, who was born in October 1949 in Beijing.

He noted the song recounts the achievements of the country and the lyrics compare the country to a passionate young man who pursues his dream.

"I wrote many songs paying tribute to the country and its people. I have seen the drastic changes in the country over the past few decades, which make me proud," Wang said, adding he can still recall the moment when he was 10 years old and joined in a celebration event in 1959, when the country celebrated its 10th birthday. At 20, Wang joined the army.
