Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, promoted its mushroom industry to attract more investment at the opening ceremony of the 2021 China (Guizhou) mushroom innovation conference on June 23.

Guiyang is striving to build a mushroom R&D center, a mushroom strain breeding center, four industrial parks for mushroom production, and four management systems for the mushroom industry revolving around high-end, green, and intensive development.

In order to build a mushroom industry cluster, Guiyang is also constructing a tourism town in Baiyun district that focuses on mushroom picking, sightseeing, accommodation, mushroom education, and healthcare. The town will receive 700 million yuan ($108.38 million) in investment.

Guizhou's mushroom trading center is located in Zhazuo town, Xiuwen county, Guiyang. The center now has more than 140 enterprises, and will invest 100 million yuan to establish a mushroom processing center, improve the settlement and price system for mushrooms, and build a mushroom supply chain service platform.

In 2019, Guiyang's Kaiyang county was selected as a key county to develop a mushroom industry, and it will invest 300 million yuan to build a complex for the industry.

The complex will involve mushroom R&D, mushroom log production, mushroom growing, and mushroom processing. So far, the complex's mushroom strain breeding factory, cold-chain logistics center, mushroom log production workshop, and greenhouses for mushroom plantation have been built.
