Foreigners check out Tianjin's cultural relics

Tianjin, serving as the coastal gate to the capital Beijing, has played an essential role in China's modern history and development. It has been home to many eminent people and has witnessed course-changing events in China's revolution, modernization, reform and rejuvenation during the last century.

More than a dozen foreign friends who are studying and working in China were invited to experience the city's red-culture resources.

The Awakening Society

The Memorial Hall of the Awakening Society was founded in 1919 in Tianjin to inspire local youths during difficult times. With members aged 16 to 25, the Awakening Society worked to arouse local youths' awareness and to advocate communism before the founding of the CPC in the city from 1919 to 1920.

Centurial museum in Tianjin

The Tianjin Museum is a comprehensive museum showcasing the city's history and art. It exhibits ancient Chinese art, modern Chinese history and the development history of Tianjin. Founded in 1918, it is one of the earliest museums established in China.

"China has a long history and dazzling culture. I like China very much. Its people are brave and diligent," said a foreign friend while visiting the museum.
