Tai'an cuisines in the spotlight

A culinary competition was held in Tai'an on June 7. A total of 521 catering enterprises attended the event where 167 local delicacies and 202 dishes were included into the famous cuisine list in Tai'an.

The contest,hosted by the Tai'an municipal commerce bureau,aimed to promote the green development of catering sector in the city.

Tai'an cuisine has a long history. Dishes are made by choosing specialties found on Mount Tai and using different cooking technique to present regional characteristics.

Official data shows that the revenue in the catering industry in Tai'an currently accounts for more than 10 percent of the total retail sales of social consumer goods. The catering industry has been playing an increasingly important role in improving people's lives, stabilizing employment and promoting consumption.

The event will help improve high-quality consumption, meet consumers' diversified catering consumption needs, and further unleash the consumption potential of locals. It is also a practical measure to promote the upgrading of the catering industry during this period when anti-pandemic measures are still in place.
