Yantai Mountain in Yantai, a coastal city of East China's Shandong province, has witnessed the city's history of opening up since 1861.
The city was Shandong’s first port that opened to the outside world. Since then, 17 countries have established consulates in and around Yantai Mountain. The park is also home to the largest existing modern consulate complex in Asia.
The precious historical sites and file photos at the Yantai Port Opening Exhibition Hall in the park recorded the influence that the opening of Yantai Port hade made to the city. Yantai became the first city in Shandong to set up a post office. The first wine factory in China was built in Yantai. In addition, the city is also home to the earliest clock manufacturing factory in China.
In addition, some sites in the park also record the revolutionary history of Yantai. A monument was established in 1945 to honor the martyrs that died during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45).
