The heroism attributed to the Long March inspires many artists to retrace the routes and the sites of Red Army forces.

Cui Xiaoxiao, a professor of art of Liaoning Institute of Education in Shenyang, Liaoning province, began a two-and-a-half-year trek over the old paths of the Long March in 2018. In three separate journeys, Cui visited the remote areas that the Red Army passed more than 85 years ago, some rather dangerous at the time and costing the lives of many Red Army soldiers.

He then completed a body of 16 sized oil paintings to mark the strategic retreat in the history of Communist Party of China and the heroic Long March spirit.
