June 17: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On June 16, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 19 new cases of confirmed infections (15 imported cases, 3 in Fujian province, 3 in Guangdong province, 3 in Yunnan province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Hubei province and 1 in Sichuan province; 4 indigenous cases in Guangdong), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 15 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 974 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 2.
As of 24:00 on June 16, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 6,329 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 5,992 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 337 confirmed cases (including 4 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.
As of 24:00 on June 16, the National Health Commission had received reports of 91,511 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 86,384 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 491 confirmed cases (including 16 cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 1,045,269 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 16,116 were still under medical observation.
On June 16, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 24 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 14 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 4 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on June 16, 427 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 405 imported cases).
As of 24:00 on June 16, 25,342 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 11,881 in Hong Kong (210 had died and 11,601 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 52 in Macao (51 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 13,409 in Taiwan (478 had died and 1,133 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
