When ideals conceived by artists in the past have become realities, and how can artists today assume the undertaking to picture new landscapes for the future?
This question will be addressed at Futurism of the Past, the themed exhibition of the Beijing Contemporary Art Expo's Story section. The exhibition opening on June 15 at the Beijing Exhibition Center will also inaugurate the center's new Culture and Art Hub.
The exhibition, curated by Bao Dong, brings together pioneering artists such as Zhang Guangyu, Feng Mengbo and Cao Fei, to name a few. It will look back on how artists living a century ago imagined the world, and show how people today reflect on these conceptions and embrace a new future.
The exhibition will be a warmup to the Beijing Contemporary Art Expo, to be held from Aug 26 to 29 at the Beijing Exhibition Center, a distinctive work of architecture built in 1954.
