Organizers of the 19th Asian Games, which will be held in Hangzhou in September 2022, announced on May 30 that it will launch a series of promotional events across 10 domestic cities, local media outlets reported.
The promotional events aim to enhance the Asian Games' influence across China and the world to better spread the spirit of the competition, motivate the public, promote national fitness, as well as realize the ultimate goal of implementing the Healthy China initiative.
The first edition of the promotional events kicks off in Shanghai on May 31, with ones to be held in Beijing, Nanjing, Xiamen, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Wuhan, Chengdu, Xi'an, and Tianjin closely following.
The events aim to promote the charm and the culture of the Asian Games in an all-around way, while also echoing the distinctive sports culture of each city.
Xu Haifeng, who claimed China's first Olympic gold in the individual free pistol 60 shooting competition in Los Angeles in 1984, presented dolls of the mascots of the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games to eight youth champions.
The organizing committee of the 19th Asian Games said that the presentation reflects the spirit of Chinese athletes passing from one generation to another, while also embodying the growing public interest and support for the event.
